The 2026 Presidents Cup is officially set, with U.S. captain Brandt Snedeker and International captain Geoff Ogilvy completing their 12-man teams with six captain’s selections each. The Americans and Internationals will meet Sept. 22-27 at Medinah Country Club outside Chicago.
Team USA is led by Scottie Scheffler, Sunday’s TOUR Championship winner and world No. 1, facing an International team built around a deep mix of established match-play performers, major champions, and fresh faces.
Snedeker used his six picks to add Jacob Bridgeman, Patrick Cantlay, Chris Gotterup, Jackson Koivun, Xander Schauffele and Justin Thomas. They join Scheffler and the five other automatic U.S. qualifiers — Cameron Young, Wyndham Clark, Sam Burns, Russell Henley and Collin Morikawa — for the biennial PGA TOUR showdown at Medinah’s Course No. 3 later this month.
Ogilvy rounded out his roster by adding Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Corey Conners, Nico Echavarria, Ryo Hisatsune, Sungjae Im, and Nick Taylor. They’ll play alongside automatic qualifiers Si Woo Kim, Min Woo Lee, Tom Kim, Adam Scott, Hideki Matsuyama, and Ryan Fox.
The announcement, made during the Presidents Cup Selection Special from PGA Tour Studios in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, was meant to give both captains a little more than three weeks to set pairings and plan for the five-session competition.
For Snedeker, the most intriguing selection is 21-year-old Koivun, the former Auburn standout who left college just three months ago and won his first PGA Tour event in late July.
Koivun has shown the kind of fearlessness and competitive energy that can translate to team golf, where an inspired rookie might turn up the heat in a match. He joins fellow U.S. newcomers Bridgeman and Gotterup, while Cantlay, Schauffele and Thomas bring the team-room experience that is essential in a format driven as much by pairings and momentum as individual performance.
Bridgeman’s selection follows a season that included a victory at Riviera, while Gotterup earned the nod after finishing seventh in the U.S. points standings. Snedeker also opted for the proven track records of Thomas, Cantlay and Schauffele, whose presence further strengthens a highly potent lineup.
The International team will feature players from seven countries — Australia, Canada, Colombia, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa and South Korea — and combines veteran familiarity with three captain’s-pick first-timers: Echavarria, Hisatsune and Taylor.
38-year-old Taylor will make his first Presidents Cup appearance, while Conners returns for a third time. That Canadian duo gives Ogilvy reliable ball-striking options and could create a natural partnership in alternate-shot sessions.
The appearances of Matsuyama and Hisatsune mark the first time since 1998 that the International side will feature two Japanese players. Matsuyama is one of the team’s most accomplished players, while Hisatsune is among those seeking to translate individual success into match-play success.
The U.S. has not lost the Presidents Cup in 28 years, a streak that boosts confidence in the Windy City, but the International’s core is strong too. Scott brings leadership and deep Presidents Cup experience; Matsuyama contributes major-championship stature; Tom Kim and Si Woo Kim provide energy and proven match-play firepower; and Min Woo Lee and Fox add aggressive styles likely to suit Medinah.
Both captains ultimately selected a balanced final six: three returning Presidents Cup players and three first-timers.
