Clearwater’s Feather Sound County Club to Host World-Class Women’s Team Tournament
World-Class Women’s Golf comes to Clearwater, March 8-10, as the 2024 Aramco Team Series, Presented by PIF, visits Feather Sound Country Club.
The unique three-day event features teams of three professionals and one amateur battling for the prestigious team trophy. Meanwhile, the top-performing professional golfer competes for the individual title and a Ladies European Tour (LET) win.
This five-event series spans five locations across three continents: Here in Florida, Seoul, London, an Asian location yet to be announced, and Riyadh – with a $1 million prize purse at stake in each stop along the way.
As the first city in the worldwide series, Tampa will provide a stern test for any golfer looking to take the top prize. It’s the only opportunity for European golfers on the LET to compete on U.S. soil before returning for the Solheim Cup in September at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia.
World No. 12 Megan Khang can’t wait to experience this style of team golf on Feather Sound for the first time.
“I’ve always loved playing in a team, so there’s no doubt this will bring an extra competitive edge to the tournament and be a lot of fun to play in,” said Khang. “With the Solheim Cup in the U.S. this year it’s a good chance for fans to get a little taste of what’s to come.”
The tournament expects a great field, including Florida’s own Lexi Thompson, seeking her 16th professional victory.
“It’s always great to be able to compete at home with that local support,” said Thompson. “I’m going to head out there with my eyes on the trophy. To win at home on the Aramco Team Series would undoubtedly be a real highlight for me. To be a part of an event that not only celebrates skill but also champions women’s golf, at home and beyond, is truly special.”
England’s Charley Hull has made a steady climb into the top ten ranked golfers in the world and is now seeking her fourth career victory in the United States.
Hull claimed the first Aramco Team Series Presented by PIF individual title in New York in 2021, defeating American Nelly Korda by a single stroke to claim the title at Glen Oaks Club, and the Englishwoman is hungry to complete the set with a team win.
“I’ve had some of the most memorable days of my career in America, so the chance to add another Aramco Team Series title in Tampa is a really exciting one, added Hull. “It’s been a solid start to the year for me and I feel my game is continuing to go in the right direction, so I’m hopeful I can push me and my team onto a win.”
Two-time major winner Brittany Lincicome will debut in the event and meet with the working media today before tournament week.
“I didn’t even realize it was happening, and then somebody at my charity event in January was like, ‘Hey, are you playing in this event?’ Then I looked into it, and oh my gosh – Feather Sound Country Club is literally 30 minutes from my house. So I was like, I have to play. I’ve been down once last week [for a practice round]. I will go again this week to try to get as many rounds as possible, even though I’ve played it a million times, said Lincicome. “I love going there. The course is already looking fantastic. I can’t wait to see what it looks like in two more weeks, it’s just a fun track to play and the greens are lightning fast.”
