Harbour Town Golf Links Prepping for 2025 Renovation

by | Oct 3, 2024 | News

Harbour Town Golf Links, one of the most iconic golf courses in the U.S., is gearing up for an extensive restoration project scheduled for 2025. Located on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and known for hosting the PGA TOUR’s RBC Heritage since 1969, this Pete Dye-designed course will undergo updates to maintain its championship-level conditions while preserving its classic shot values and original design elements.

The renovation, set to begin in May 2025 and conclude in November, will focus on improving the course’s agronomy and maintenance. Fundamental changes include rebuilding the greens, bunkers, and bulkheads while keeping the existing turf varieties—TifEagle Bermuda on the greens and Celebration Bermuda on the fairways, tees, and rough. Some work has already started, such as replacing railroad ties on select bulkheads.

Sea Pines Resort will oversee the restoration effort, with consulting input from five-time RBC Heritage champion Davis Love III and his company, Love Golf Design. Love, deeply familiar with the course, expressed his excitement about helping to maintain the legacy of this Pete Dye masterpiece.

This project will ensure Harbour Town remains a premier golf destination. Its strategic layout will continue challenging players while enhancing the course’s infrastructure to meet modern standards.
