A Memorable Golf Experience
At Harmony, there aren’t any holes that won’t leave a lasting impression. but to me, Number Two is an all-time favorite due to the risk-reward opportunity. After a fairly routine opening hole, number two is the start of a three-hole loop around a lake that provides an introduction to what the course has to offer.
Number Two is 373-yard (Blue Tees), par 4 dog-leg right around water. The “safe-play” is to take the water out of play and play the dog-leg. However, this will leave you with a 150-170 yard approach. If you’ve got the distance to carry the water, and the bunkers on the other side, take the risk and go for it. This will leave you a short iron or wedge for your approach to the elevated green.
#17 at Harmony Golf Preserve
Another one of my memorable holes is the par-3, Seventeeth. This is a routine 150-yard par 3 (forced carry over water), but what made it memorable to me was playing it with Johnny Miller standing on the tee during the Course Grand Opening Media Day in 2002. The view of the green over the water was intimidating enough, but having Johnny Miller standing there and then asking me if I had the confidence in my shot to know whether I would hit the green made for the most stressful shot I have ever played. But what made it really memorable was watching my ball land on the green; it wasn’t even close to the hole but on the green, which got me a fist bump from Johhny Miller and a never-forgotten boost in my confidence.
