Metropolitan Golf Group Hires Director of Agronomy for Two South Carolina Courses
The Metropolitan Golf Group has hired Brian Roller as Director of Agronomy for its two Bluffton, South Carolina golf clubs – Crescent Pointe and Eagle’s Pointe.

Before his appointment, Roller was the superintendent at The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes from 2021 to 2023. He began his career in agronomy in 2001 as the assistant superintendent at the Oldfield Club, a Greg Norman Signature Course in Bluffton. Roller was promoted to head superintendent at Oldfield in 2009, where he worked until 2021.
He graduated from Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory, North Carolina, and earned a degree in Applied Plant Science and Golf Course Management.
The Metropolitan Golf Group (MGG), a full-service golf course and country club management organization based in New Jersey, purchased the two Bluffton public courses last year to add to its portfolio. Crescent Pointe Golf Club is a signature Arnold Palmer design, and Eagle’s Pointe Golf Club is a Davis Love III signature course. The Metropolitan Golf Group also operates two private clubs, Forsgate Country Club in Monroe Township, New Jersey, and The Summit Club in Armonk, New York.
MGG manages private and semi-private courses, offering a comprehensive range of services, including:
- Golf operations: Running the day-to-day aspects of the course, like scheduling tee times and managing staff.
- Food and Beverage: Overseeing the course’s restaurants, cafes, and other food service facilities.
- Marketing: Attracting new players and promoting the course to the community.
- Agronomy: Maintaining the course’s turf and ensuring its playability.
- Financial Services: Managing the course’s finances and ensuring its profitability.
