The Jack Nicklaus Academy of Golf, located at the Orlando World Center Marriott, announced the addition of two new staff members. Instructors Porter Metcalf Jr. and Jeremy Scott have joined Brian O’Neill, Director of Instruction, in delivering the proven Nicklaus Academies’ philosophy and the highest customer service to its students.
Porter Metcalf Jr., a PGA Class A professional since 2003, brings a wealth of experience as an accomplished player, successful instructor, golf writer, and a 20-year US Marine Corps veteran to the Academy. His passion for the game spills over to his students of all ages and abilities. Porter has coached players that have excelled at the local level and continue all the way to AJGA Champions, collegiate All-Americans, USGA Champions and at the professional level including a 7-time LPGA winner and a US Open Women’s Champion.
Jeremy Scott, also a PGA Class A professional, is from Gaylord, Michigan. After graduating from Ferris State University’s Professional Golf Management program, he began working as an assistant at the Jim McLean Golf School in Miami, Florida. Working alongside top teaching professionals, including Brian O’Neill, Jeremy gained experience with various technologies including Trackman, BodiTrak, K-Vest, and SAM Putt Lab. He also maintains his active certification with the Titlist Performance Institute(TPI) and is a Callaway Certified Master Fitter.
“We are excited to have Porter and Jeremy join our staff,” stated Brian O’Neill. “Porter has a great track record and reputation in the Central Florida market for developing players to compete and win at the highest level. And without losing sight of the importance of academics, a number of his students have received academic scholarships to top universities. He gives back to the community through his volunteer efforts which matches well with the Nicklaus philosophy of life.”
Brian added, “I have worked with Jeremy in the past and feel he is a great addition to what we are building here at Nicklaus Academy. He brings the hands-on experience with all the latest technologies that we have here at Hawk’s Landing. With Jeremy’s club-fitting expertise we can better maximize our students’ performance from the driver all the way to their wedges.”
