Sunseeker Resort Rebrands in Southwest Florida

by | Sep 7, 2025 | Where to Play

In a bold move signaling both strategic ambition and a renewed commitment to luxury hospitality, Sunseeker Resort in Charlotte Harbor has officially rebranded as Sunseeker Resort Florida Gulf Coast, Curio Collection by Hilton. This transformation marks a significant milestone for the Southwest Florida destination, which has faced a turbulent journey since its inception.

Originally developed by Allegiant Travel Company, the resort opened in December 2023 after pandemic-related delays and a construction fire. Despite its promise as a tourism magnet, the property struggled with occupancy rates and financial setbacks, including a $321 million impairment charge and damages from Hurricanes Helene and Milton. In July 2025, Allegiant sold the resort to Blackstone Real Estate for $200 million, ushering in a new era of ownership and vision.

Under Blackstone’s leadership and management by Pyramid Global Hospitality, the resort has aligned with Hilton’s prestigious Curio Collection—a move designed to elevate its brand presence and tap into Hilton’s vast network of over 225 million Honors members. The rebrand is more than cosmetic; it reflects a strategic pivot toward becoming Florida’s premier waterfront destination for leisure, lifestyle, and business travel.

Positioned along the pristine Charlotte Harbor, the resort’s new identity emphasizes its role as a dynamic convention hub and luxury escape. According to Blackstone, the partnership with Hilton will “expand the resort’s reach while reinforcing its position” in the competitive hospitality landscape. The rebrand also signals a broader investment strategy by Blackstone, which has committed over $13 billion across Florida, including hiring hundreds of professionals to support its growing portfolio.

This rebranding effort is not just about changing signage—it’s about reshaping perception, enhancing guest experience, and redefining what Southwest Florida offers to travelers and meeting planners alike. With Hilton’s backing and Blackstone’s capital, Sunseeker Resort Florida Gulf Coast is poised to become a cornerstone of the region’s tourism and business infrastructure.
