Tiburon Golf Club, located in Naples, Florida, has 2 championship golf courses. The Gold and the Black.
Both of these Greg Norman-designed courses hold professional tournaments. The LPGA Tour CME Group championship, the PGA QBE Shootout, and the Chubb Classic will be played February 14-20,2022.
The Chubb is celebrating its 35th anniversary and is part of the PGA Tour Champions. Past champions include Gary Player, Lee Trevino, as well as last year’s champion, Steve Stricker. The Chubb is delighted that David Duvall, a former world # 1, will be making his Chubb debut this year.
Our media group played the Gold course which stretches to 7382 yards from the tips. The course offers 5 sets of tees to choose from. I played the Black/White combo which played to a yardage of 6339–a solid test of golf. The 6th hole was a picture-perfect par 5, which included a waterfall as you approach the green, a nice touch in the middle of the course, and something usually reserved for closer to the clubhouse. The 9th hole is a long challenging par 4 that I found to be the hardest hole on the course, the reason being its length and a very tricky green.
Tiburon is managed by Troon and is first class from the moment you arrive and are offered complimentary valet parking by the welcoming staff. Wayne handled the golf bags, positioned them on my golf cart in the staging area downstairs from the Pro Shop, and pointed me in the right direction. Tiburon definitely knows how to treat guests from the check in, bag handling, starter and friendly staff.
We had a wonderful lunch served up at the well appointed Sydney’s Pub, located in the clubhouse. Several of our group ordered the chili, and it looked awesome. I went with the Blackened club sandwich. It was outstanding.
I can honestly say, Tiburon Golf Club is an outstanding experience.
