Tiger Woods Undergoes Another Back Surgery

by | Sep 14, 2024 | News

Tiger Woods has undergone back surgery for the sixth time in the past ten years. On his social media, Woods, on Sept 13, said he had a procedure called “microdecompression” surgery of the lumbar spine for nerve impingement in the lower back.

“The surgery went smoothly, and I’m hopeful this will help alleviate the back spasms and pain I was experiencing throughout most of the 2024 season,” Woods said. “I look forward to tackling this rehab and preparing myself to return to normal life activities, including golf.”

The 15-time major champion played in only five sanctioned PGA tournaments in 2024 and made the cut only one time – at the Masters this past April – where he finished last among those players who made the cut.

Woods is not expected to play again until the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas on Dec. 5-8 and the PNC Championship with his son, Charlie, on Dec. 21-22 in Orlando.
