Topgolf Plans to Bring More Play to New Orleans’ River District Near Downtown

Modern golf entertainment leader Topgolf has initiated plans to bring a three-story venue to New Orleans. The signature technology-enabled entertainment experience will serve as an anchor for the new River District neighborhood. Construction efforts are expected to begin in late 2023.

“We are thrilled for the opportunity to join the new River District neighborhood and feel our location is ideal for serving the tourism and convention business, as well as the community as a whole,” said Matt Smith, Senior Director of Real Estate at Topgolf. “As a company focused on evolving the game, we are excited to provide a new entertainment option to the area and get more people playing the game of golf.”

The proposed venue, which is expected to be built on a parcel of the River District neighborhood development near Tchoupitoulas and Henderson streets, would feature 102 outdoor, climate-controlled hitting bays for year-round programming.

The venue will be fully equipped with Topgolf’s proprietary Toptracer technology, which enables players to enjoy interactive games such as Angry Birds – a favorite among kids and adults – and chef-driven menu items, top-shelf drinks, big screen TVs and music.

The Topgolf venue will employ approximately 400 Playmakers upon completion, further strengthening the region’s economy.
