Water Oak Country Club Estates

Water Oak Country Club Estates, a Sun Communities in Lady Lake, FL., has broken ground on a multi-million dollar renovation. The project follows a recently-renovated model home sales center, the addition of a new operations center, and expanded home sites to elevate amenities and accommodation options for its active resort residents and growing residential base. The project is expected to be completed in September 2022.

Water Oak Country Club Estates is a gated 55+ active living community with 1,300 home sites and growing quality-built manufactured homes and resort-style amenities.

“Water Oak Country Club Estates has so much to offer the local 55+ active community and this milestone project will further increase our amenities and enhance our experience for residents,” said Sheri Woodworth, division vice president at Sun Communities. “We’re excited to be embarking on this journey and look forward to offering a range of new amenities to our expanding residential community.”

A complete overhaul of Water Oak’s golf course is underway. Designed by Sanford Ferris Golf Designs, the new course, Woodworth said, will alleviate flooding issues, improve the routing, and provide a strategic and fun challenge for all golfers. Once complete, the new par 70, 6,100-yard layout will feature large, mature oak trees that have defined the course for decades. The new routing also takes advantage of the 90-acre site’s 70 feet of vertical change.

“Our team is thrilled to lead the design of the complete course renovation,” said David Ferris, ASGCA, RLA of Sanford, Ferris Golf Design. “With straight sight lines and angled features including fairways, greens, and bunkers, this core golf course emulates those of the golden era of golf course design.”
