The Pursell Farms Founders Pub Debuts a Southern Heritage Dining Experience
According to CEO David Pursell, The Pursell Farms Founders Pub is the focal point of the expansive 3,200-acre Pursell Farms Resort located in the foothills of Central Alabama, approximately 45 minutes away from Birmingham.
The Founders Pub is located in the space that was previously used as corporate offices before the Inn was built. It pays tribute to James T. Pursell, also known as Mr. Jimmy, and his son, CEO David Pursell, by showcasing art, vintage photography, and memorabilia that tell the story of Pursell Farms. You’ll get a glimpse of an extraordinary business and a dedicated family through various anecdotes, ranging from the inception of FarmLinks, the first-ever golf course for research and development, to the story of how Jimmy Pursell met his wife, Chris Parker, with the help of a famous Hollywood entertainer. Hint: see the stately pool table and the photo with Jim Nabors (a.k.a. Gomer Pyle) as best man at the wedding.

“We used to say, ‘if these walls could talk,’ they would have great stories to tell,” said David. “We created a new dining experience surrounded by an entertaining memory lane that traces the beginnings of Pursell Farms in art, vintage photography, and memorabilia. I guess you could say these walls do talk today.”
The Founders Pub also reflects the Pursell family’s belief that sharing food at the table is the heart of hospitality. Showcasing panoramic views of the 18th Fairway and beyond, the Founders Pub is a comfortable and casual gathering place for lunch and dinner.
“Our menus are created with ingredients fresh from Southern gardens and farms, with dishes made from scratch and accented with cooking techniques such as smoking, pickling, and barbecuing,” said Chef Sean Butler. “We want guests to enjoy traditional favorites in new ways, and we’ve even sprinkled a few Pursell family favorites throughout the menu, too.”
