Tidewater Golf Club in North Myrtle Beach, S.C., has restructured plans for a bunker renovation project that will enhance playability and strategic design. The bunker renovation will start in mid-Nov. 2024 and be complete by mid-February. 2025. The new timeline ensures the least possible impact on daily play.
In addition to bunkers, several holes at Tidewater Golf Club will be modified to increase playability and strategy.
“Tidewater Golf Club is investing in the future of the club by renovating the course to increase playability and fun at the club,” said KemperSports CEO Steve Skinner.
“Our plan has always been to complete this important renovation with the least possible impact on our valued guests,” said General Manager Chris Cooper. “We believe this new timeline completes the project as quickly as possible with very little interruption to the great golf experience we deliver each day.”
Located along the picturesque Carolina coastline and nestled between the Intracoastal Waterway and Cherry Grove Inlet, Tidewater Golf Club was designed by local architect Ken Tomlinson. Since then, Tidewater has continued to be one of the Myrtle Beach area’s more celebrated designs.
In 2022, the course was named South Carolina’s Golf Course of the Year by the South Carolina Golf Course Owners Association.
While the course tips out at more than 7,000 yards, nine of Tidewater’s 18 holes play along the water to provide a one-of-a-kind golf experience. One of Tidewater’s more distinguishing features is the unparalleled preservation of the surrounding natural environment. Thoughtfully designed to coexist harmoniously with the local flora and fauna, Tidewater provides an immersive golfing experience through the natural Lowcountry landscape while maintaining the area’s ecological integrity.
