Under Armour used the recent PGA Show in Orlando to introduce an array of new and improved apparel and accessory products for golf.
Two items that immediately caught our attention are from their shoe line.
“What if I told you that our biomechanically engineered Drive Pro could add yardage, improve efficiency, and tighten dispersion? Most would call me a liar, so we tested the Drive Pro & Drive Pro Spikeless with over 150 golfers of different abilities and the test results proved the shoe consistently increases distance and speed compared to golfer’s current shoes.” said Jake Haley, Senior Product Line Manager for Golf Footwear at Under Armour
What Under Armour believes sets the Drive Pro Series apart from other golf shoes is its lockdown lacing system—a band that keeps the foot supported and in place during the 360-degree motion of the golf swing. The Swing Support Strap on the shoe reinforces the upper part of the foot to provide an optimized 360-degree lock-in for enhanced performance.
The Drive Pro Series includes the Drive Pro (spikes) and Drive Pro SL (spikeless) – both feature UA’s groundbreaking technology, which was informed by direct feedback from members of their pro staff led by three-time major winner Jordan Spieth.
“I’m excited and energized about all the new products that Under Armour has this season. As always, it was such a great experience working with the designers to bring to life these golf shoes that meet the needs of me and my fellow athletes on the course,” said Spieth.
The Drive Pro Series also boasts the Swing Support System. That’s three layers where each is designed specifically to harness the natural movement of the golf swing, delivering both comfort and traction along the way.
“You’ll feel like you’re putting on your favorite trainer, with optimal comfort and a grounded yet bouncy feel, then when you swing you’ll experience the impact of the 3-layer Swing Support System™,” added Haley.
The Drive Pro has new UA S3 spikes, built in partnership with designed with Softspikes engineering team and world-renowned golf biochemist JJ Rivet, to provide directional traction to help improve golfers’ games.
Fans can keep an eye out for the Drive Pro Series this season, with UA athlete Jordan Spieth planning to wear the Drive Pro Series throughout the entire PGA Tour season.
Drive Pro sells for $170, while the Drive Pro SL and Phantom Golf are available for $160 and $140, respectively.
