The end of the PGA Tour season is almost here.
This week’s RSM Classic, hosted by Davis Love III, is the final FedEx Cup Fall event and the last opportunity for players outside of the top 100 in the season standings to earn their eligibility for 2026.

Maverick McNealy: 2024 RSM Classic Champion
And while the 2025 Majors, The Players Championship, FedEx Cup Playoffs, and Ryder Cup are all in the past, a field of 156 players is here to tee it up on St. Simons Island for a winner’s share of more than $1.2 million from a $7 million purse, and 500 of those coveted FedEx Cup points.
Only the top 100 in the point standings will be fully exempt for next season. Adam Schenk moved safely inside by winning his first PGA Tour event last week in Bermuda, where he began in 134th on the list. And that’s how quickly fortunes can change.
The FedEx Cup Fall, considered professional golf’s second season, is a series of seven tournaments designed to help players who did not finish in the top 50 earn points, improve their standings, and possibly qualify for the first two signature events next year. Those who finish in places 51-60 will earn entry into both the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Genesis Invitational.
Karl Vilips arrived at Sea Island Resort in 100th place, just 12 points ahead of Matt Wallace at No. 102. Beau Hossler is another point back, and Max Homa holds the 101st position but is exempt thanks to prior victories.
29-year-old Ben Griffin claimed the Worldwide Technologies Championship in Mexico two weeks ago to join Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy as the only three-time winners on Tour this season. Griffin is the only one of the three in this week’s field, which also includes defending champion Maverick McNealy.
“We are certain that the fans and an international TV audience will enjoy the competition as the Fall Schedule on the PGA TOUR comes to a conclusion here in Sea Island,” said Todd Thompson, The RSM Classic Tournament Director.
The opening rounds are played on Sea Island Golf Club’s pair of championship courses, The Seaside, a par-70 layout by Tom Fazio, and the par-72 Plantation course reimagined by Love’s own design company in 2019. On the weekend, the event shifts exclusively to the Seaside.
RSM Classic Charitable Impact and Sponsorship Legacy
Now in its 16th year, the RSM Classic has raised over $48 million for charity and provides an economic impact of about $15 million on Georgia’s Golden Isles, a group of four barrier islands known for their beautiful beaches, historic views, and oak trees draped in Spanish moss.
RSM, a multinational accounting firm and the sixth-largest in the world, based in London, extended its agreement earlier this year to serve as the title sponsor of the tournament through 2028 to increase charitable donations.
Sea Island and The Georgia Golf Trail
Sea Island Resort is actually on St. Simons Island, a popular tourist destination between Savannah and Jacksonville. It offers many activities that go far beyond its reputation as a golfing destination. Guests can enjoy coastal adventures such as fishing, sailing, kayaking, and paddleboarding, or explore the natural beauty of the Golden Isles through beach horseback riding and guided nature walks. The sunset cruises aboard the Sea Island Explorer are a must, where dolphins are a common sight in the marshes. The resort also features falconry demonstrations, tennis, pickleball, and wellness experiences, ensuring lasting memories.
Sea Island is part of a broader tourism story through the Georgia Golf Trail, a collection of more than 20 premier courses and resorts across the state.
“We enjoy showcasing our outstanding golf courses with first-class accommodations and genuine southern hospitality,” said Doug Hollandsworth, founder of the Georgia Golf Trail, created to spotlight the Peach State as a year-round destination, where visitors can soak in the natural beauty that helps to define the state.
While the trail highlights Georgia’s heritage, it also promotes the state’s diverse hospitality offerings—from mountain retreats to coastal escapes—making it a valuable resource for travelers seeking both recreation and relaxation.
