CDA National Reserve

by | May 4, 2026 | Lifestyle

There are a lot of private club communities in the country that preach lifestyle and fitness, but at the end  of the day, they are just another real estate populace. Beautiful to be sure, but more style than substance. Then there is CDA National Reserve, a 1,000-acre property in Coeur d’Alene, ID., which has transformed into a fully integrated sporting and wellness destination, complete with a great Tom Weiskopf-designed golf course and towering Western Hemlock.

CDA National Reserve members have access to advanced longevity and performance offerings include IV therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, stem-cell banking and personalized optimization plans, through a Premier Longevity Membership in partnership with Clinic 5C, a company that claims a “root cause’’ to medicine and focuses on restoring balance across the body’s systems.

This is complemented by a performance-driven culinary program, regenerative wellness amenities like infrared sauna and cold plunge and a wide range of seasonal activities.

The Clubhouse

With more than 70 percent of memberships already sold, CDA National Reserve Chief Operating Officer John Cochrane believes the property is signaling a clear shift in the category: mountain clubs are evolving into fully integrated ecosystems built around golf, longevity, and adventure as a way of life. For example, the 20,000 square-foot clubhouse features a performance-driven food and beverage program that has eliminated seed oils in favor of anti-inflammatory, longevity-minded nutrition; The Reserve Lodge has access to 5,500 acres of wilderness for sporting clays, archery, axe throwing and a Kid’s Survival Camp led by a former Navy SEAL; the Lakehouse features floating waterpark, kayaking, wake surfing and private StanCraft cruises.

“Frank Suryan (CEO of New Edge Living, a Lyon Living Company, and owner of CDA National Reserve) has been the driving force behind this evolution,’’ CDA National Reserve COO John Cochrane told me. “His decision to transform the club into a fully integrated sporting and wellness destination was rooted in place and purpose.’’

Cochran said Suryn’s vision extends beyond development.

“It is about stewardship and legacy, building a destination his family can be proud of for generations. Equally important is the family’s deep commitment to wellness, which has long been a central part of their lives.

“By combining world-class sport, nature and holistic well-being, CDA National Reserve reflects a philosophy that prioritizes health, connection and enduring value. The property offers a rare opportunity to create something that truly harmonizes with its surroundings. ‘’

Indeed. CDA National Reserve members are drawn to a lifestyle defined by nature, freedom and the rhythm of long summer days – as long as 16 hours of daylight.

“It’s not uncommon for members to start with a morning round of golf, then seamlessly transition to an afternoon on the lake or an evening exploring scenic trails,’’ Cochran said.

The Weiskopf course (7,295 yards, par 72) shows off Weiskopf’s mastery of Western terrain. Built on ancient glaciers, the course unfolds across a remarkable landscape, where each hole is framed by a distinct and memorable view – from towering pines to sweeping mountain backdrops.

Lake Coeur d’Alene comes into a few holes, most notably the long, par-3 15th, which features two greens – one playing as long as 233 yards and the other 199 yards. Each green plays downhill from the tee box, so the “playing’’ distance isn’t always as long as on the scorecard.

The following 16th hole is a  staple of Weiskopf design – a driveable par 4 – 335 yards from the tips, but with a bunker on each side of the green to protect it from long hitters.

“The course reflects a deep understanding of how the game should be played,’’ Cochrane said. “Members are free to play on their own terms (no tee times), without the constraints and frustrations often associated with high-end clubs. It’s a rare and highly valued experience where world-class golf meets complete flexibility, allowing members to fully enjoy the course as it was intended.’’
